Welcome to the "Windowbench" site. Like many people, I suspect, I started off this web site with great intentions which have proved rather hard to live up to! Its now basically a personal on-line scrapbook of some of my holidays. Currently I have an "unofficial guide to Glasgow" (rapidly getting out of date - there are much better Glasgow sites on the web!) and a travelogue of a trip across the USA I did by car in 1997. I've also added a report of my visit to New England, a long weekend on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, a trip to the Rockies (all in 1999) and I've now also added a report of a weekend in Germany from the spring of 2000. I've now finally completed my log of my trip to Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Antigua in autumn 2000. Now I'm working on the log of my trip to the western USA in May 2001. When that gets done I can then get my trip to Barbados and Grenada over the new year 2002/03 completed! This site has been developed on a large monitor and in places may not look very nice on monitors with resolutions less than 1024x768 - this is largely laziness! I am trying to ensure that the site works OK on both Netscape 4 and IE5, though I've noticed that some of the font sizes don't work very well on Unix based Netscape browsers. It should also cater for non-frames and text only browsers, though the later obviously miss out on the photographs which are a key aspect of my travelogs. Most of the pages have quite a number of photographs in them and this can make downloading a little slow - please bear with it! |
